作品名称 |
Inclusion No. 1 |
作品材质 |
Citrine, scapolite, rose crystal, aquamarine, olivine, white crystal, garnet, silver |
制作工艺 |
Using traditional gem processing procedures (cutting, grinding and polishing) recombine and repair various scraps collected from gem processing factories into a complete new "diamond" to redefine the value. |
设计说明 |
The pursuit of perfect diamonds meets the aesthetic needs in the general sense, so inclusions are regarded as microscopic impurities, which are artificially excluded from gemstones. The work use the value symbol (diamond) to discuss whether the existence of inclusions should be a prejudice to judge value? And what is contained in a flawless diamond?
Discarded gem leftovers are collected to reshape the concept of inclusions and make them to have the same value as real diamonds. The composite gem materials I created are defined as substitutes for gems since they expand the sustainability of gemstones. And they may slow down the mining and exploitation of precious stones or play a greater value in the future .
